Electric Vehicles
Are rapidly becoming mainstream in an increasingly environment conscious world. Electric Vehicles or EV’s, include cars, trucks, buses, and a wide variety of bikes. New Zealand is ideally positioned to take advantage of the technology as 80% of its power is generated by renewable hydro, geothermal and wind systems.
For local personal transport and leisure, New Zealand’s hills and roads make electric bikes the perfect solution. Extremely cheap to run and maintain they will get you further, faster and keep you fitter. Meloyelo has a range of high spec'd models at excellent prices that will suit any of your requirements from commuting, trail riding, riding just for fun or even leaping over rocks. The bikes are manufactured to the highest quality with top componentry, certified batteries from LG or Samsung and all Bafang drive electrics for a compatible trouble free system |
Further, Faster, Fitter.
Yes, fitter. On assisted bikes you still have to pedal but using the display buttons or the thumb selector on the handle bar to control the amount of assist means you can set your own level of exertion. What you will find is that you will go further and faster, exploring beyond your previous excursions and getting far more use out of your bike. It becomes a more viable option for commuter travel to work around the city, not even mentioning cost, convenience and no parking hassles. And bikes go where cars cannot. Cycleways and paths are opening up all over the cities, escaping the traffic crush and hassle and finding places you would never see from a car. And when you've had enough bump it up a notch and take it easy on the way home.

Brent, operating as E+BIKE locally, is an associate of MeloYelo supporting EVolocity.
EVolocity is an educational charity sponsoring Electric Vehicle technology projects for students in secondary schools. MeloYelo is the support organisation and raises funds by selling and installing Electric Bike conversions kits and more recently new EBikes.
Evolocity EV programmes are running in secondary schools from Christchurch to Auckland providing materials and support to teams of students designing and building their own EV's to compete in performance based events. It is very popular in the schools and is seen as a practical way to find and train the engineers of the future. In 2017, 70 schools around NZ took part entering 100 EV projects. Already industry is seeing participants in the programme entering the workforce with better engineering skills and technical understanding and we're only in our 6th year of the programme.
Our aim is also to promote EBike use generally to the public by providing information and test rides through it's NZ wide group of associate installers and suppliers.
