An interesting article in Stuff by Paul Owen, their writer\critic on Motorbikes.

He gives an assessment on four EBikes ranging from a folding city bike through two commuter models to a sophisticated road EBike. The bikes are all from Italian manufacturers and range in price from $2450 to $7500.
An important point he makes is the better efficiency and ease of use of the Crank mounted motor option over hub motors.
EDIT: Correction done on battery voltages.
On all tested bikes the motors were only 250 watt as opposed to the 300 watt motors fitted in our kits or on new bikes. The first bike, the folding city version, he makes mention of the 7 speed gears but it is only the rider that gets that advantage, the motor still only works directly at wheel RPM.
Worth a read, especially when you compare the prices to a fitted kit, we beat them all hands down.
